Aerodynamic R&D Engineer

Power Curve is a small but growing company with ambitious targets. We carry out a wide range of activities within wind energy focussed around our three core business areas of Solutions, Consultancy, and Digital Services.

You will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of blade aerodynamics projects ranging from blue-sky technology development to consulting for major OEMs. You will work across the value chain from first product sketches through to tooling design and field testing.

We are looking for an early career, ambitious engineer to expand our R&D team and contribute to a rapidly growing product and service portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • You will report to the Chief Technology Officer
  • You will carry out a variety of simulation activities such as CFD, Blade Element Momentum, and aeroelastic studies
  • You will contribute to consultancy projects such as blade aerodynamic design reviews and CFD studies

Qualifications and required criteria

  • MSc in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering or similar
  • MSc in a wind turbine-focussed field OR at least 1-2 years’ wind industry experience

Experience of:

  • Blade Element Momentum and preferably aeroelastic models
  • General aerodynamic design principles of blades and aerofoils

Desirable criteria

Experience of:

  • CFD simulation, preferably using StarCCM+
  • Coding in Python

Working knowledge of:

  • Blade aeroelastic analysis
  • Blade structural design principles

Competencies

  • You have technical fluency in English and experience writing technical reports for a wide variety of audiences
  • You are self-motivated and enjoy the freedom of responsibility to shape your role
  • You are focussed on quality and delivering to deadlines
  • You are familiar with common project management processes
  • You cope well with a highly varied workload that changes regularly
  • You have a creative mindset for solving problems
  • You are comfortable working in international and cross-cultural teams

The position is full-time at our office in Aalborg, Denmark; however, a degree of hybrid home-working will be considered.
